The management of the BSBPE, with the assistance of IAEA and “Röntgen” Foundation, organizes a practical course on “Statistics in the Practice of the Medical Physicist”, which will be held in person from 2 to 6 June 2025 in the training hall of NCRRP in Sofia. The course will be held in English, with lecturers from the medical physicists prof. Marco Brambilla from Italy, prof. Brendan McClean from Ireland and prof. Jenia Vassileva. The aim of the course is to build on the knowledge, practical skills and competencies of medical physics experts and medical physicists for the correct use of methods for experiment planning, statistical processing and interpretation of results, and uncertainty analysis in the practice and research of medical physics. The course will consist of lectures and practical exercises, and participants will receive self-preparation materials in advance. The course program is attached.

A request for accreditation of the course has been made by the European Board for Accreditation in Medical Physics (EBAMP).
The course is aimed at medical radiological physics residents, as well as medical physics experts and other medical physicists and specialists in the field of medical physics. The course is part of the compulsory training in module 3 of the program of the specialty “Medical Radiological Physics” and the participation in it is free of charge for the residents. The participation fee for the members of BSBPE is 20 BGN, and for all others – 40 BGN. The fee covers the certificate of participation and coffee breaks. Registration for participation is mandatory for all participants. To ensure the quality of practical training, places for the course are limited. Preference in the selection of participants will be given to postgraduate students, and the rest of the participants will be selected according to the date of registration.
The deadline for registration is 10 May, and by 15 May, those who have registered will receive a confirmation of participation. Those accepted for participation will receive instructions for payment of the registration fee.
